Painting with Pencils: a Tut by Lusc-Fire Painting with Pencils: a Tut by Lusc-Fire
When I posted my illustration for my 2010 Christmas card quite a few of you asked if I would do a colored pencil tutorial. I am looooooong overdue in submitting this...but look! here it is!...finally lol.

Just a disclaimer: there's nothing in here about color theory. Tried to stay away from that cause it's so complex it just would have been confusing to add. Not to mention I barely understand it myself to be able to give you guys any smart insight on it...I'll leave that to more talented artists then I. So if you're also looking for thoughts on color theory I recommend these tutorials: [link] and [link] . And even if you weren't thinking about color theory I'd recommend any artist to check those out anyway for future reference...they really have some great and helpful hints.

Everyone works with colored pencils differently and this is just one of the ways you can work with them. Explore, experiment, find what works for you. This is my first tutorial so I hope I covered everything and was able to answer some questions about working with colored pencils and about my own technique. Feel free to ask questions and let me know if I left anything out. :)

I was wondering if you still knew the colors of the colored pencils you used for the skin tone? I have trouble picking out colors for tan skin so I wondering if you could help me out in telling me the ones you used?

Sorry, Sorry, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Yes, I still know the colors! I used Light Peach, Beige, Dark Umber, and Burnt Ochre. Not sure if it's relevant to you, but I used Light Peach in marker as well. Hope that's helpful. :)
