Good News and Bad News

Wed Nov 4, 2009, 7:18 PM

  • Listening to: Linkin Park
  • Watching: Friends
I've got a few items of bad news.

One: My computer is on the fritz and is on the verge of dying at any moment and I have no money to buy a new one. I'm super scared that if I work on any artwork that I'll lose it if my computer fries, so I won't be submitting anything complete for who knows how long.

Number Two: I have no access to a scanner at the moment. True, the housing here does provide a scanner, but I have to scan the image into Microsoft Word which means the quality sucks. Sooo, that means the only thing I'll be uploading here (if anything) for a while will be digital pictures of my sketches. We'll see if I can survive not playing with Photoshop and my Tablet. Bad timing for my computer to decide to kick the bucket. :(

The good news is I uploaded new Disney pictures! This batch includes Halloween and Princess Tiana!!

[link] <-- Here it is! These show what I've been getting myself into since being here in Orlando. :D Let me know if the link works...this is the first time I've used flickr to share photos, so I'm still trying to figure out how it works.

Already here:
I'm sorry guys, Disney has kept me so crazy-busy that I haven't had time to set up that photo gallery. Don't worry, I promise I'll have it up and running soon...I'll let you guys know as soon as do. :D

It's nothing special, but in case anyone's interested I set up a portfolio here on DA: [link]

Hey Guys! Thanks for all the well-wishes on my trip and such! The plane ride went smoothly, until we had to land. The pressure change was so painful I thought my eardrums were going to explode.

As for the Program: It's kept me on my toes. :D It's such an overwhelming change to the senses just being here and then I've had meetings and classes to go to all week long. Phew, I'm ready for a break already...I haven't gone to a singe park yet, either!! Must do that soon. I need to set up an online public photo album to document my time here...would you guys like that?

As for my messages: I still have over one thousand favs and watch notifications to go through. Usually, I try and thank everyone individually, but I just have way too many messages. For those of you who faved and watched earlier than August: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE FAVES AND WATCHES!! It really means a lot to me, it does, I just don't have the time to thank you all individually. :glomp:

Woot! I leave for Florida on Monday! Oh man...I am a bundle of nerves right now. I am SOOOO psyched, but SOOOO nervous at the same time! This will be my first time flying by myself...so that should be interesting. :/ OH! But then I think of all the awesome things I can do down there, or that will be happending while I'm down there! I will be there for Halloween...Halloween!! I LOVE Halloween...and I'm going to get to see WDW all decorated for it; watch the little kids dressed up going around the parks trick-or-treating; go to Halloween parties in the parks!! Awesome!! AND...I'll be there when The Princess and the Frog comes out! HOW COOL IS THAT?!

phwoo...breathe, breathe.

As soon as I get some free time I'll be back regularly here at DA. Keep a watch out for some new stuff...I've been a doodling fool this summer! Haha.

I am SO ready for the Disney College Program. Bring. It. On.

Pomp, Wolverine, and Disney World

Thu Apr 30, 2009, 5:45 PM
  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: Three Days Grace
  • Reading: anything I can get my hands on
  • Watching: Wolverine, HP 6, Public Enemies, Up
  • Playing: Batman: LEGO
  • Drinking: home-brewed southern-style iced tea
Well, I’m sure most of you know the drill by now. This is my annual leaving-for-the-summer-to-dial-up-internet journal. It’s just denser this year because there are a lot of new happenings in my life. So here’s the low-down:

Man, how time flies. It feels like just yesterday I was a senior in high school and now I’m going to be graduating college in a couple days! Makes one contemplate things you’d rather not.

Do you ever stop and think about what you’ve accomplished? What your goals used to be and what they are now? Earlier this year I had an “AHA” moment; it all fell into place. I knew exactly what I wanted to do…and then I realized that I had wasted four years of my life majoring in the wrong thing. Back when I was a wee high schooler I knew two things for certain: art was what I wanted to do and Disney was who I wanted to work for. At that time, animation seemed the logical career path. Since then I’ve grown older and wiser. I’ve learned nothing of substance from the animation program at my school and I’ve come to the conclusion that animation isn’t for me. I’m an Illustrator at heart. I don’t think in action or movement – I think in images (key poses in animating terms). I can convey a story better through a single image than I ever can through action and time. It’s refreshing when you can figure out a small part of your complicated life – I just apparently have really bad timing (no animation pun intended).

At least I have the summer to look forward to. There are some awesome movies coming out that I can not wait to see! Obviously, Harry Potter 6 is a big one. July is almost here! Curse those Warner Brother bastards for making us wait from November to July! Lol.

But the movie I am most excited about right now is X-men Origins: Wolverine. Not only is a movie based solely around Wolverine awesome in its own right, but Gambit is in it also. He’s always been my favorite mutant and I have been waiting for them to put him in the X-men movieverse since X1. I wanna jump out of my skin with excitement every time I see a commercial for it on TV. It’s crazy…I don’t think I’ve wanted to see a movie more badly (even Pirates or Harry Potter). Lol…and it’s only when I see clips of Gambit do the fangirl hormones in me really start to rage. First it was a glimpse of his eyes turning red and then the other day I FINALLY heard him speak with his Cajun accent...now all that’s left is to see the damn movie! Just to add to my gnawing anticipation, I discovered something really awesome the other day. Have any of you guys seen the clips of the mutants duking it out on a nuclear reacter? I read in the paper that it’s supposed to be Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania. Are you freakin’ kidding me?! TMI is less than an hour from my house - I can see the steam plumes from my window! Mutants...duking it out on TMI...I can not wait to see that. :D

To top the summer off, in late August I’m heading to Walt Disney World again to participate in the Disney College Program. :boogie: For five months I am going to be living and working at WDW. I’m psyched...sounds like a great opportunity (networking ftw) and I can’t wait to get started!

Hope you’re summers are as good as I anticipate mine will be!

:ahoy: Fair Winds.
